Our beloved Guillaume Louis passed away on March 27th, at 7:25PM, surrounded by loved ones. He died at the age of 84. This endearing soul was born in Grandes Desdunes, Haiti on August 15, 1936. His parents were St. Anne Francique and Louisis Louis. He was the youngest of 5. His siblings are Joseph, Carmene, Christina and Gravela.
Guillaume lost his father at an early age. He attended elementary school in Desdunes, but he had to abandon it early in order to support his mother on the farm. She opposed his help, but as a generous son he insisted. With a lot of hard work, he grew to become a well-known rice farmer in Desdunes. On this journey he met a one-of-a-kind force, a tremendous woman named Lamercie Augustin. They married on July 14, 1968. Their union was blessed by six beautiful children: Beaudlair, Herlande, Guillauna, Bedson, Chalder and Moselene.
In search of better opportunities, they moved their family to the City of Gonaives. However, after an economic downturn in agriculture in the late seventies, Guillaume moved to America with the sole purpose of continuing his financial obligations to his children. He first worked in Boston, then he made his final move to New Jersey and worked as a factory worker.
Guillaume’s talents were many, but he will especially be remembered as an avid walker, lottery player and for his incredibly gentle demeanor that served as comfort to everyone he met.
Guillaume is survived by his 5 children: his 15 beautiful grandkids Steeve, Kinley, Diana, Monica, Jeffrey, Akim, Nina, Matthew, Asia, James, Nehemiah, Amir, Chadeera, Chaldo and most recently Jamal Guillaume and his 3 great grandkids Caleb, Leila Bolite and Eli Guillaume.
He was an exceptional, strong, respectful and true man of integrity. The family would like to thank all the friends, family and health care professionals who helped Guillaume throughout the past couple of years.
