Shelsie Datilus Obituary

Shelsie Brittany Datilus was born on March 25th 1989 in Elizabeth, NJ, and transitioned to meet her Heavenly Father on April 7th, 2024 at the young age of 35. Shelsie was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was and still remains to be in our minds as a vibrant and multifaceted individual. To truly understand the essence of Shelsie, one had to experience her presence which was accompanied with an infectious smile and spirit. At the tender age of 15, Shelsie was diagnosed with a rare health condition, Sarcoidosis, which presented many sporadic challenges for her as she flourished into the beautiful Angelic individual we have all grown to love and adore. Despite her tests, that became beautiful testimonies along her journey, Shelsie still made sure to live her life to the fullest as God would permit her to do so; even if it was done vicariously through her loved ones. Shelsie had a firey love for and of God and anyone who came in her path was sure to know about the Word of God without it feeling overwhelming. Shelsie had a beautiful way with words and without your knowledge, she would be speaking a Word of blessing over your life; she was truly an Angel on earth. Due to her health conditions, Shelsie was unable to complete her degree in Early Childhood Education at Kean University, nonetheless, she made sure not to waste any of her God-given talents and utilized her intelligence in tutoring and mentoring children when she was able to do so; she loved the kids and they naturally gravitated to her child- like spirit without hesitation! Shelsie also had a passion for music which was evident in her love for Praise and Worship songs in French, Haitian Creole, & the Nigerian language of Yoruba, and of course she was our father, Levelt Datilus’ number one fan, knowing the words to all of his French Gospel songs. Shelsie was also an active member of the CGIM Children’s Ministry & Young Adults Choir. Outside of church, Shelsie was also a fan of 90's R&B music and enjoyed singing alone or along with anyone who would join her in singing her favorite tunes; if the song came to mind, she was going to sing it for you…fully. Prior to her diagnosis, Shelsie was a great youth violinist and was a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of New Jersey from the ages of 13-15. Her creative spirit extended to her artistic talents, including singing, drawing, and cooking. Shelsie was also a skilled writer and DIY (do it yourself) enthusiast, often experimenting with homemade hair and skin products. In addition to all of these God given gifts, Shelsie was also a very tech-savvy individual, often serving as our personal IT troubleshooter; she was exceptionally intelligent and always eager to learn and teach. Shelsie’s kindness, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love for others touched the lives of everyone around her, even if they were in her presence for a short amount of time. She has taught us all how to love unconditionally, to forgive, release grudges, see and love ourselves as God sees and loves us, and most importantly, Shelsie taught and inspired us all to get closer to God; my sister will forever be missed. Let us all find solace in knowing that she is no longer suffering in the flesh and she is at peace in the open and loving arms of our Heavenly Father Jehovah God, who has promoted her to be one of  His Angels in Heaven to watch over us all; Shelsie will always be felt in Spirit.

Your mission on earth is now complete sis, now it is your time to Rest in Heavenly and Blissful Peace, my beloved sissy, Shelsie Brittany Datilus.
