Deacon Jean Rene Donat

April 8, 1943 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 74)

    

          On April 8, 1943, in Croix des Bouquet, Haiti, the Lord blessed Carmene Tibil and Lidovick  Donat (both deceased) with Jean Rene Donat, the second of 10 children and the first male of the family.  Growing up, he was a loving, caring child, who grew up and continued to be a very caring man who enjoyed helping others. He went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 4, 2018

 

        After his primary school in Tabarre, Haiti, his father passed away, as a responsible young man he went to search for work to help his mother with his younger siblings.  Jean Rene was an amazing man with an even greater mind. He longed to leave a legacy for his children, grand- children and extended family.

 

      Jean Rene Donat had qualities that made him a great soul mate. He was a humble, kind, respectful, and sociable type of person. Those qualities among others, touched the love of his life Marie Magella Antoine deeply, whom he married on September 26, 1968, and together they had 8 children: Jonas Donat, Camzuse Falaise  Donat, Jezula Etienne Donat, Ruth Exi Donat, Marie Jean Pierre Duchene Donat, Ronald Donat, Samuel Donat, and Rachelle Brice Donat.  Their love for each other was commendable. They stood by each other for almost 50 years. 

 

       In September 1982, Donat left Haiti and immigrated to Hillside, New Jersey. He worked for Millington factory in Elizabeth, New Jersey until he retired. Upon his    arrival in the US, he joined the Antioch Church of God; there he served alongside of his pastor in different capacities. A few years later he became a member of the l’Eglise de Dieu Unis in Newark, NJ where Jean Pierre Paul is the pastor; there he served as a deacon and a musician playing the base drum.  

 

     Deacon Donat dedicated his life to serving God, his family and others. His children will always remember him as a hardworking man, a man who loved to cook, watch Monday night wrestling and a man of great faith.

 

    Deacon Jean Rene Donat led a life of extraordinary courage, faith, strength. His memory and essence will live on in the hearts of his wife Marie Magella Antoine, 6 sisters Yvane Cean, Clotide Cean, Olga Guerrier, Sony Derosiers, Saint Amene Donat and Dadou Donat, 3 brothers Dumasser, Souvenir and Maxo Donat, 5 daughters Camzuse, Jezula, Ruth, Marie Pierre and Rachelle, 3 sons Jonas, Ronald and Samuel,  5 sons- in-law Maxene Falaise, Eglet Etienne, Pastor Guernel Exi, Ernst Duchene and Techner Brice, 3 daughters in law Edwige Delinior Donat, Sharline Volcy Donat and Irma BienAime Donat, 22 grand-children Judith Joseph Donat, Jeanne Joseph Donat, Guymauel Etienne, Ruthersen Falaise, Benjamin Donat, Ruthnelle Exi, Markenley Donat, Jessica Etienne, Guershon Exi, Anderson Duchene, Samantha Donat, Briana Duchene, Sagine Donat, Manny Donat, Kevin Exi, Christy Donat, Hadassah Falaise, Isaiah Donat, Justin Gilles, Leah Donat, Wistersen Falaise and Emandelet Etienne  and a long list of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
