Fresnel Hughes Charles was born on October 25, 1949 in Jeremire, Haiti to parents Julien Dumancie Charles and Gloriesuse Beauport. He completed his studies at the Facility of Law in Port-au-Prince Haiti.
Hughes immigrated to the United States for a better opportunity for himself and wife Marie Rose Charles. Hughes and Marie were married for 44 years. Together they had two children, Eve and Rosalie Charles. He began working as a cook in a busy restaurant in New York City. An opportunity was given to him as a town car driver which lasted 23 years. His hard work and dedication to his job helped provide for his family.
Hughes was diagnosed with dementia in 2013. He was kindhearted, selfless, generous and devoted to his family, friends, and even strangers. He had an easy-going spirit and was always filled with humor. He enjoyed talking Haitian politics, making people laugh, and spending quality time with loved ones. He mostly loved spending time with his grandson, Jordan. They shared a very special bond together which was beautiful to witness.
On Friday, April 13, 2018, Hughes was called home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his devoted wife: Marie Rose Charles; his daughters: Eve Charles, Rosalie Charles, and Cherese Charles; Grandson: Jordan Charles Merisca; his sisters: Chantal Charles, Marie Lourdes Charles, Marise Charles, Yanick Charles, Marie Joseph Charles; his brothers: Wuthberne Charles and Remy Charles; along with a host of other relatives and friends who have been affected by this loss.
