Wellington “Linky” Pinder passed away on July 19, 2019 at St. Barnabus Hospital in Livingston NJ, at the age of 90 .
Wellington was born in Miami,, Florida, on December 8, 1928 to William Sr. and Olive Pinder.
When his mother passed away, his father sent he and his siblings to live in Nassau, Bahamas, their native home, with relatives. When he was 16, his dad brought him back to Miami. Linky, later, went to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War .
Shortly after being honorably discharged, he returned to Miami where he worked in a tailor’s shop. Wellington loved working in this field, as he was a sharp dresser himself. He always said you can tell a person by the clothes they wear. It was during his return to Miami FL, where he met his true love Daisy. The loving couple then moved to Newark NJ, where they married on July 19, 1963. Their union produced four wonderful children, Wellington (Linky) Jr., Deborah, Dionne, and Diana.
Wellington worked as a stock clerk and then retail sales in the Mangel’s Department Store, in New York City. When the store closed, he trained as a welder. He and Daisy, believed very much in education as summers were hardly a break, using that time to foster the kids interest by putting them in programs and spending time with his family in New York City or Miami, while guiding all four children through high school and two through college. In 1997, he joined Daisy, in retirement, moving to her birth home, Damascus GA where they spent 12 years until he lost his wife in June 2009. Two years later, he relocated back to New Jersey where he resided with his daughters, until his death.
He is survived by his children Wellington (Linky) Pinder Jr., Deborah Pinder Johnson, Dionne Pinder, and Diana Pinder; a sister, Ollie Mae Pinder (Atlanta, GA); a brother and sister in law, Dudley and Metford Pinder Sr. (Miami, FL.); sister in law, Mary Pinder (Miami, FL.); Eric Johnson; Antoinette Johnson; Kira Johnson; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones in the states, and Bahamas.

His family and friends will remember Linky for his love for cooking, fishing, politics, talks of growing up in Nassau and knack for being a jack of all trades.
