Albertine Louis Obituary

Albertine Louis, also known as Matine, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on December 18, 1936, to Maurice Louis and Olivia Delorges. She is survived by one beloved sister and was preceded in death by two sisters. As a young woman, Albertine attended a catholic school where she trained as a seamstress. She had a lifelong love for sewing and was gifted in creating beautiful dresses and garments. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and found joy in watching cooking programs, learning new recipes to share with those she loved. Albertine met the love of her life, Dr. Lunel Maurice, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Judith Louis Merceron. In addition to raising her own family, she opened her heart and home to children in need, caring for them as her own. After completing her education and pursuing her passion for sewing, she opened her own boutique, where she proudly sold her handcrafted clothing and designs. In 1983, Albertine left her homeland of Haiti and relocated to the United States. While living in America, she worked various jobs and remained devoted to her family. She lovingly helped raise her grandchildren while her daughter attended school and worked. In 2020, Albertine developed a vascular condition that resulted in a below-the-knee amputation. Despite the challenges she faced, she remained strong and resilient. In February 2026, she suffered a stroke, and in May 2026, she experienced a fall that resulted in a subdural hematoma. Through it all, she remained at home surrounded by the love and care of her family. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Albertine was called home to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully in her home, taking her final breath surrounded by the love of her daughter and granddaughter. Albertine leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Louis Merceron; her son-in-law, Jacques Merceron; her granddaughter and her husband, Jackie and Salaam Wilcher; her grandson, Jeffrey Merceron; her great-grandchildren, Lanice Merceron, Quaron Merceron, Israel and Noah Wilcher; her sister, Marie Rose Louis; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends from the Odestin, Vendryx, Jean Baptiste, Louisor, Johnson, Mirville, Bernard, and Irvin families. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the many years of love, guidance, and cherished memories she gave us.

May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
