Antony Jean was born on April 20, 1927, in Oriente Province, Cuba, to the late Alfred Jean and Andrea Isaac. At the young age of 10, his father made the courageous decision to leave Cuba as anti-Haitian sentiment rose throughout the country. Refusing to let his family suffer under prejudice, Alfred’s choice gave Antony the chance to grow up with dignity and opportunity. This journey shaped Antony into a man of resilience and gifted him the ability to communicate in multiple languages: Spanish, Creole, French, and English.
In Haiti, Antony met the love of his life, Emily, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage and raised five children. He was a force to be reckoned with a strong provider, a man of faith, and a father who instilled the word of God into the hearts of his children and grandchildren. He led by example, teaching them not only about faith, but also practical skills that helped them succeed in life. Known for his generosity, Antony was the kind of man who would give the very shirt off his back to help someone in need.
After living a fulfilling life in Haiti, Antony eventually made his permanent home in the United States, where he continued his most cherished role helping to raise his grandchildren. His life was rich with simple joys: he loved taking long walks, tending to his garden, writing, and playing dominoes with his beloved Emily. He was an avid boxing fan, often moving and shadow-boxing along with the matches as though he were in the ring himself. Above all, Antony treasured reading the Bible, which remained his guiding light throughout his life.
On September 18, 2025, Antony was called home to be with the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife, Emily. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of faith, strength, and love lives on through his family.
He leaves behind his sons: Edzer Jean and Pierre Thony Jean;
His daughters: Audlene Dure, Edline Michel, and Edit Point Du Jour;
His grandchildren: Ginny Dure, Mehoojy DeRosa, Laurie Dure, Marven Dure, Thierry Point Du Jour, Benji Point Du Jour, Patricia Point Du Jour, Edwin Jean, Edmilie Jean, Berline Michel, Metuchela Michel, Olivier Michel, Christain Jean, Rana Jean, and many more;
