Bayard Saint-Louis

Bayard Saint-Louis was born on January 1st, 1967, in Desdunes, Haiti to the late Nicolas and Vetira (Anne) Saint-Louis. Bayard completed his primary education at Centre D’Etudes Classiques in Desdunes and his secondary education at Les Normaliens Reunis in Port-au-Prince. In 1986, he and his family joined his father in the United States but returned to Haiti in August 1988, to marry his wife, Anvelane Richemond. Six years later, they were blessed with a daughter, Belinda Saint-Louis, and later, a son, Brendan Saint-Louis. 

From an early age, Bayard was a smart young man, especially in the subject of mathematics. He continued his education at Essex County College and later, Devry Institute. Although, he didn’t fully complete his studies, he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to navigating the 90s taxicab industry. Everyone he knew as a taxicab driver and dispatcher would depend on his smarts when it came to navigating the roads in the greater Newark area, so much so they called him “Maps”.

In 1999, after his mother passed, Bayard was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and faced many challenges when it came to his health, yet he never missed his doctors’ appointments! Unfortunately, in the latter half of 2024, he suffered from two strokes—the latter making him unable to move nor speak for two months before his passing on February 15th, 2025. 

Bayard is survived by his devoted wife, Anvelane Saint-Louis; his daughter Belinda Saint-Louis and son, Brendan Saint-Louis; his sisters, Virginie Georges, Yvanette Saint-Louis Jacques, Fedeline Destine, and Marielle Ojentis; his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; his aunts, uncles, and whole host of nieces and nephews. Rest in peace, “Maps”.
