Carlos Elize Obituary

Carlos Elize was born on March 1, 1981, at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, to Marguerite G. Elize (née Tilus) and Pierre Kenol Elize. He was raised in East Orange and remained an only child until the birth of his younger sister, Talicha, in November 1984.

From an early age, Carlos was intelligent, caring, and supportive. He proudly helped his immigrant parents adjust to American culture while excelling in his own academic and personal pursuits. He began his education at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic School, now known as Holy Spirit School. In 1993, when his parents purchased their family home in the Ivy Hill section of Newark, Carlos transferred to Mount Vernon Elementary School, where he graduated eighth grade.

Carlos went on to attend Chad Science Academy for high school, where he excelled academically and participated in sports such as soccer and basketball. After graduating, he furthered his education at Kean University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business.

Hard work was a value Carlos carried throughout his life. From the age of 16, once he was able to drive, he began working part-time jobs at Party City and Macy’s. After graduating college, he entered the workforce full time, holding positions at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey, while also picking up side jobs as a delivery driver and later with Uber. Most recently, during the pandemic, he secured his final position with Nielsen Automotive Group.

While Carlos’s education and work reflected his dedication and drive, his greatest gift was his ability to connect with people. He easily made friends everywhere he went, engaging others in conversation on any topic, whether familiar to him or not. His relationships—with family, friends, and the wider community—were a defining part of his life.

On September 8, 2025, Carlos tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in an automotive accident. He is survived by his beloved children, Andreanna, Antonio, and Giselle, who remain in the care of their mother, C. Verty; his mother, Marguerite G. Elize; his younger sister, Talicha Elize; and his older sisters, Sheila and Anotte. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who became family. Carlos was predeceased by his father, Pierre Kenol Elize, in July 2006.

As difficult as it is to accept his passing, the impact Carlos had on the many lives he touched will remain remarkable and unforgettable. His memory will live on in the love of his family and friends.
