Chanel Fontin was born on October 2nd, 1961, in Peti-Goave, Haiti. On September 1st, 2024, while hospitalized in New Jersey, Chanel Fontin transitioned into glory one month before turning 63.
Chanel led an ambitious life filled with courageous pursuits to rise and lift others up along the way. Chanel was born the youngest of seven children. After his father’s passing at the tender age of 2 years old, Chanel’s siblings and mother nurtured his growth as he completed schooling. As he grew older, Chanel grew to recognize the need for him to mature and begin his path in life. Chanel has always been supported by and remained close to his siblings; Alfred and PePe, as they made it their priority to always remain in touch with each other.
Chanel left his hometown and ventured to Port-Au-Prince to learn mechanic and tailoring skills. After some time, Chanel returned to his hometown to help his mother on the family farm in addition to taking time to teach others professionally. At age 23, Chanel and Julienne welcomed their son, Yonel. Chanel then became mayor of his town which allowed him to help his community develop. Both before and after taking this role, Chanel was well known in his hometown due to his consistent involvement as well as being a dependable support for others.
Recognizing the opportunities abroad, Chanel left Haiti at age 32 and went on to make the USA his new home. While here, Chanel became a CDL truck driver working hard to earn a living and support his loved ones both in the US and Haiti. Chanel later added three more children to his family including Katia, Charlie, and Fedwill. Through his life changes, Chanel never forgot where he came from and made a point to continue sewing into Haiti. He worked with the ambitious plan that one day he would eventually return home to Haiti to live out his life.
