Dieudonne Dorvilma Obituary

Dieudonne Dorvilma nicknamed “John” was born on May 19, 1956, in Poteneau, Grande Saline, Haiti to the parents of Dorvilme Dorvilma and Noelcena Noel. He migrated to the US in 1980 for a better life. He started working at a factory before he settled into his long-life career of being a taxicab driver for Newark Airport. He retired in 2020.  Five years after being in the states, he had his first-born daughter, Dieusula Dorvilma with his first wife, Jesula Sylvian. They both loved their only daughter dearly. Then later, he met Cita Jules whom he has three children with: Donco, Debrasco, and Demareste. Throughout the years, he often traveled to Haiti to spend time with his family until he brought them to the US in 2011.

John was a loving and hard-working father who made providing for his family his number one priority.  The airport where he worked was his second home and created many meaningful friendships for many years.  He enjoyed playing dominoes and debating with his friends. He will be missed deeply by his community of friends at the airport.

John enjoyed watching soccer on TV and listening to Haitian news. He loved to eat his goat meat with every meal that involved rice. He was a father who was proud of his children and bragged to his friends about them often. John was a person with a good and caring heart. He cared for his family and friends very much. He built many strong bonds with a lot of people, that goes to show you how loved he was by many. He was well known and liked by the Haitian community. This is a loss that stings deeply throughout the community.

John is survived by his wife, Cita, his four children, his only grandson, his brothers, Noel Dorvilma and Cance Dorvilma, his sisters, Almeryte Dorvilma, Lise Dorvilma, Suzette Dorvilma, Amelie Dorvilma, his cousins Sidonie Ulysse and family, Franck and Romain Frejuste and family, his brother in law, Duperval Julien and family, extended family: Dyel Sylvain and family, Presidieu Sylvain and family, Joseph Sylvain and family, Wilfrid Petion and family.  He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

On August 4, 2024, John was called home to be with the Lord. May his soul continue to rest peacefully.

John 11:25-26; “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never Die."
