Elienor Desormes Obituary

Elienor Vital Desormes was born on April 8, 1939, to his late mother Telsira Thelemaque and father Vital Desormes in Desdunes, Haiti. He was the youngest and the last survivor of 11 siblings.

He earned a High School diploma in Desdunes and attended a professional institute in Gonaives, where he became a Tailor. He was very gifted in the Tailoring profession; he opened his own workshop while mentoring upcoming apprentices who were interested in the tailoring trade and everyone called him “Boss Nor”.

In 1963, he met a wonderful woman named Marie Andree Florvil and built a lasting friendship for many years, in 1972 they were married. Soon, their first son, Edon was born, unfortunately he passed away. Later they welcomed another son, Edlor. And a year later, a beautiful daughter Esther was born.

In May 1974 Elienor immigrated to the United States, and in 1981 his wife joined him in the U.S, where they resided in New Jersey. Soon after, they welcomed another lovely baby girl, named Enacha. Elienor was a dedicated husband, and exemplary father who provided well for his family. He was a devoted man of God, who served as a Sunday School Teacher, and in the Men’s Choir at Temple of Unified Christian Church. As hobbies, Elienor loved watching replays of soccer matches on TV, singing and wrestling TV programs. He also was very devoted to daily reading of bible scriptures.

In 2023, Elienor was hospitalized for a couple of months due to health challenges and by the grace of God, was medically stabilized and returned home to be with his wife of 51 years. In January 2025, while in the hospital, the Lord decided to take Elienor away from his family at the age of 85. Elienor was an exceptional example to his children - compassionate, with a great sense of humor, full of humility, showed great devotion to God and generosity to others as he consistently sent yearly donations to Haiti.

Elienor is survived by his wife Marie, his children: Edlor, Esther and Enacha, son in law: Paul Gardy Sinai and Ronnie Jeter, daughter in law: Michelle Rowe-Desormes, grandchildren: Juvensky, Traecy and Brandon. In addition, he is outlived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. Elienor, Papi, Husband, Grand pa we celebrate your life, and in loving memory, we will miss you.
