Emmanuel Ulysse Obituary

In Loving Memory of Emmanuel Ulysse

On December 24, 1983, in the vibrant town of Saint-Marc, Haiti, Emmanuel Ulysse entered this world, bringing with him a spirit that would touch the lives of many. His journey, marked by resilience, dedication, and unwavering kindness, came to a conclusion on November 19, 2023.

Emmanuel's educational path began at "Ecole Maître Hiller" for elementary school, and he continued his studies at "Ecole Frère Hervé de Saint-Marc" for high school. In pursuit of knowledge and opportunity, he moved to Port-au-Prince in 1995 to attend the esteemed "Institution Saint-Louis de Gonzague." His quest for excellence led him to the United States in July 2000, where he embarked on his academic journey at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey. Emmanuel earned an associate’s degree in chemistry and continued to ascend, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Bio-Medical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2006, followed by a master's degree in Engineering in 2009.

The professional chapters of Emmanuel's life saw him contributing significantly to the engineering field. He commenced his career at Conoco Phillips Refinery after earning his bachelor's degree and later joined Exxon Mobil as a lab engineer. For over 15 years, Emmanuel showcased exemplary work-ethic and proficiency, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry.

Emmanuel approached life with honesty, integrity, and an unyielding spirit. His moral compass, friendliness, and upbeat demeanor were infectious, and he never backed down from a challenge. Always patient and ever-ready to lend a helping hand, he created a legacy of compassion that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.

Emmanuel's profound faith guided him to serve as the vice-chair of Holy Spirit & Our Lady Help of Christians Church’s HOPE team. His dedication to the church and community was unparalleled, making a positive impact on the lives of many. As we mourn his passing, let us remember the joy he brought, the connections he forged, and the love he shared.

During this challenging time, let us lean on the support of family, friends, and the community. Sharing memories and stories of Emmanuel can be a way to celebrate his life and the enduring impact he had on those around him. While grappling with the "why" of his departure, finding solace in the positive aspects of his life and the legacy he leaves behind can bring comfort.

In the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." There is no goodbye for us; wherever Emmanuel is, he will always be in our hearts. May he rest in peace and may those who knew him find strength and solace in each other during this difficult time. Emmanuel, you will be forever missed.

“Seeing death at the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.”
