Ercilia Perseval Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Ercilia Perseval, who was called home on February 20, 2025. Ercilia leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.

Ercilia was born on February 2, 1958, in Gonaïves, Haiti, to her devoted parents, Ceradieu Perceval and Vrazilia Monnestime. She was one of six siblings, and among them, her dear brothers Bazelais Perceval and Jamesky Perceval remain to cherish her memory.

She spent her early years in Gonaïves, where she was surrounded by the warmth of family and community. In 1981, she embarked on a new journey, leaving her homeland to build a future in Florida. For nearly a decade, she worked hard, adapted to new challenges, and embraced opportunities with determination and resilience. In the late 90s, she relocated to New Jersey, where she planted deeper roots and continued to touch the lives of everyone around her.

Ercilia began her career as a housekeeper at the Marriott Hotel, where her strong work ethic and dedication shined. However, she had bigger aspirations and worked tirelessly to achieve them. While maintaining her job, she pursued her education and successfully became an LPN nurse, proving that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.

Her heart was as big as her dreams. Even while working at Marriott, she took on another role—helping her coworkers by starting a carpool service. With her big blue 18-passenger van, she ensured her coworkers had a reliable way to get to and from work. But for Ercilia, it wasn’t just about transportation; it was about helping others in any way she could. She did it from the kindness of her heart, expecting nothing in return. Her generosity and selflessness left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Ercilia’s presence was like the sun—her smile was radiant, and her laughter was contagious. She had a way of making those around her feel loved and welcomed. She always puts others first, giving her time, energy, and care to family, friends, and even strangers in need.

One of her greatest joys in life was cooking, and she was widely known as “Madam Lalo”. If there was a gathering, everyone knew who to call for a delicious meal. Her food was more than nourishment—it was love served on a plate. Her kitchen was a place where people felt at home, and no one ever left hungry. She found immense joy in feeding others, and her talent in the kitchen brought happiness to so many.

In addition to her love of cooking, Ercilia loved to travel. She found great joy in exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories through travel, embracing new cultures and experiences.

One of the defining characteristics of Ercilia was her deep and unwavering faith. She was a prayer warrior, always ready to pray for others, no matter the time or place. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she never hesitated to offer prayer to anyone who needed it. Whether in moments of joy or sorrow, Ercilia always turned to prayer, knowing that God’s love and grace were constant sources of strength.

Ercilia loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She had a joke ready for every occasion and a fresh meal waiting for anyone who walked through her door. She opened both her heart and home to many, becoming more than just a mother, she was a second mom and a great friend to countless people.

Despite the challenges she faced, including her illness, nothing could stop her from caring for others, especially her grandchildren. She found strength in her love for family, and her resilience was inspiring to everyone who knew her.

In her final years, Ercilia resided at South Mountain Nursing Home, where she was adored by both staff and residents. Her warmth, humor, and infectious joy made her a favorite among the caregivers, who gave her affectionate nicknames and cherished her radiant spirit. She turned every place she lived into a home filled with laughter and love.

Ercilia leaves behind a family that will forever cherish her memory. She was the devoted mother of Frantz Rempart, Cosby Delva, Sandy Delva, Lidia Rempart and Ashley Rempart. She also embraced several bonus children, including Jean Rempart, Wilgens Rempart, Illosia Michel, and Edberlande Nonez.

Her greatest pride and joy were her many grandchildren, whom she loved deeply: Vanessa Rempart, Randy Rempart, Abigail Rempart, Elijah Rempart, Joshua Rempart, Genesis Aaliyah Delva, Cosby Decarlo Delva, Cayla Delva, Caleb Delva, Christopher Delva, Jehle Delva, Elijah M. Bowman, Jeremiah A. Bowman, Massiah I. Bowman, Genesis S. Bowman, Rachel Dakota Clayton, Ethan Leo Milfort, Erika Eva Milfort, Omair Destin, Gabriella Richard, Olivia Rempart, Carter Rempart, Ashley Rempart, Gabriel Rempart and Alisha Rempart.

Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though we mourn, we also celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and selfless service to others.

Rest in peace, our dear Ercilia Perseval. Your light will never fade, and your love will remain in our hearts forever.
