Ercilia Volcy known as “Nafe” was born on January 3,1949 in Desdunes Haiti to the parentage of the late Elcinette Cenesca and Volcius Volcy. Ercilia completed her primary education at an early age. She left Haiti in 1980 and has since resided in New Jersey.
While living in the U.S., Ercilia cared and continued to provide for loved ones in Haiti. Her passion was cooking big meals for her family! She would cook her children's favorite dishes and made sure to call each one to pick up his or her portion. Ercilia's other hobby was sewing . She was a self made talented seamstress who loved to make clothes, pillow cases, window curtains and bed covers; not only for herself but to give to others on special occasions. She also loved to travel to Haiti to visit her families!
The most important thing in her life was church. She did not like to miss her Sunday masses. Though she did not drive, she would travel by any means of transportation to attend services. Her favorite saying when asked how she was doing was "Avek Jezi mwen byen", meaning with God all is well."
Ercilia was a remarkable mother, grandmother, cousin and friend to all who knew her. She had a kind heart and would help anyone without hesitation. People who spent time with her were very fond of her kindness and easy going spirit.
Ercilia was a hard working individual. She worked as a Machine Operator for many years at Silverline Warehouse; until she sustained an injury which caused her to retire early.
On November 5, 2022, Ercilia was called home to be with the Lord where she will no longer suffer or feel any pain. She has six children, Wisnide Volcy deceased, Romane Pasteur, Lamanette Francois, Harold Volcy, and Presley Saint-Phard. Her grandchildren Stacy Pasteur, Imane Pasteur, Darnell Philemon, Jalill Philemon, Sourina Cadet, Ruth Cadet, Ariyanah Harkley, Hajari Volcy and Jeremiah Pierre. Her sisters and brother Marie Carme Volcy, Odette Volcy, Bernadette Volcy Dorelien, Elianise Volcy Gabriel, Yves-Rose Pierre, Carnes Volcy and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ercilia will be missed greatly by all who had a chance to know her. Rest in Peace Mom, grandma, sister, Cousin.
