Ernst Jean-Louis

Ernst Jean-Louis passed away at the age of 71 at his home residence Saturday night May 23, 2026, surrounded by family.  He was affectionately known as "Dad", "Uncle Ernie", "Fr. Jean-Louis" and "Neness" and was the oldest of 12 children.

Ernst married at the age of 26 to Aneze Pompee on May 26, 1981, and had two children together. They were married for just shy of 45 years.  He baptized in 1974 and was a Jehovah’s Witness for many years. He worked for the West Orange Board of Education for over 25 years and retired in 2023 and was also a well-known DJ in the Haitian community.

He was predeceased in death by his late mother Marie Therese Jean-Louis, his father, Faustin Gerard Jean-Louis, and his two brothers, Jude Jean-Louis and David Jean-Louis.

Ernst will forever be remembered by his family, his loving wife Aneze Jean-Louis and two children Sabine Jean-Louis(Hammuwd) and David Jean-Louis, his grandchildren Sanai Grate and Alana Hammuwd; his brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws: Hansy Jean-Louis and family (Mrs. Midou Jean-Louis, Tasha, Michelle, Rachelle), Merlande Plass and family (Mr. Plass, Danny, Patrick), Ronald Jean-Louis and family (Mrs. Bernadine Jean-Louis, Andrew, Abigail, Alyssa, Michael), Kenel Jean-Louis and family (Brianna and Kelsey), Gerald Jean-Louis and family (Morgan), Eunice Dorvelus and family (Mr. E. Dorvelus, Tony, Sean, Christina, Nadine, Emmy, Ashley), Esther Helfrich and family (Mr. Tom Helfrich, Claire, Nicholas, Rebekah), Jeffrey Jean-Louis and family (Jeffrey Jr., Jasmine, Jociah, Milan, Mekhi, Carighan), Gary Jean-Louis and family, Nayobe Jean-Louis, Najee Jean-Louis, the Clermont Family, the Ferdinand Family and Fenelon Family; his extended family including his sister-in-law Cedelie Pompee and Erette Jean-Baptiste, nieces and nephews, Jean Desir and family (Mrs. Evelyn and Elaina), Yedah Desir, Edna Juan Baptista and family (Kaden and Brielle), Edny Juan Baptista and family (Amina, Emmanuel, Iyanna, Gabriel, Benjamin, Sophia, Sebastian), and other extended family and friends.
