Etrenne Myrtil (known to her loved ones as Nenn or Madan Chènn) was born in Desdunes, on January 20, 1937, to Jeudimise and Myrtil Etienne. She married her husband Chresnel Thermitus (deceased) and gave birth to 11 children, Ovando, Marcel, Chenèse (deceased), Denise, Ginette, Bolivar, Yvrose, Garner, Keslyne, Alourdes, and Berès. Nenn was a very independent, courageous woman, after the death of her husband in 1982, she became the sole provider of her young children and did everything possible to nurture and provide the best life possible to them. She immigrated to United States in 1999 where she obtained jobs to continue to support her family and maintain her independence. Early 2007, Nenn was diagnosed with early onset dementia, which progressed into Alzheimer’s Disease.
Nenn passed away in her home with her daughter Denise by her side on the evening of May 21. She is survived by her 8 children and their spouses: Jocelyn, Josaphat, Micheline, Effrat, Mimose, Delande, Sylamène, and Wadline.
Her grandchildren: Wolf, Beverly, Tamisha, Olène Victoria, Jordenson, Keshna, Joanne, Tenotch-ka, Jens, Leron Aristode, Katheline, Hervans A., Sophia A., Evelyn, Kimmy, Junior, Francesca, Ricardo, Annie, Kenatsa, Cliff, Kerlsein, Lori, Mindy, Cali and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her brothers and sisters: Rev. Joseph Etienne, the only one living with a long list of nieces and nephews. Tresalus, Charles, Clovis, St-Jean, Avril, Renand Etienne, Adieula Etienne (Mrs. Sera Paul) and Sainte-Myrtil Etienne (Mrs. Nord Louis) deceased.
The Thermitus, Etienne and Myrtil family is thankful to all who assisted in caring for Nenn during her illness, called to extend their condolences, visited since her passing, and every one of you who have come today to pay your respect as we lay her to rest. We love and appreciate you. May God bless you!
