Fany Dormevil-Augustin

Fany Dormevil was a remarkable woman who worked hard to better herself and those around her. Mrs. Marie Dormevil and Mr. Dor Dormevil gave birth to Fany Dormevil in Port-au Prince Haiti on June 4, 1941. She grew up in a huge family full of love. She became a Seventh Day Adventist dedicated her life to serve her only Savior. She graduated from Lycee Firmin school and fell in love with Damien Augustin. Fany married Damien in January of 1972. Fany pursued her career as a maternity nurse over 10 years, worked at General Hospital in Haiti. A few years after marriage, they had their one and only child Darmelyne. When they migrated to the USA, they curated such a culture of love and true happiness, that even after Damien’s unfortunate passing, Darmelyne and Fany stayed very close. Fast forward, Fany treated her granddaughters Dahina and Daureen with the same love, affection and protectiveness she gave her own daughter. 

Fany was strong; never backed down from a discussion, and always put God in her lessons. During hard times, she filled the room with prayer and hope. During the great times, she smiled and laughed along with everyone. 

Fany loves to go out dining, loves taking walks , and any outdoor activities with her daughter. Fany had a very close relationship with her daughter they had the ability to discuss any topic. She gave her wholehearted support to protect her only daughter and grandchildren. Fany was their backbone, she stands firm on words.

She was a woman with style, always wearing the nicest prints, always had a nice bag to match, but always humble and grateful. She used her time as a Seventh Day Adventist to not only be a pillar in her church Morija SDA church in Harlem New York, but also in her community. During times she could not make it to church, she would take her granddaughters to the local community doing missionary work. 

She took her love for God seriously -- never steered away from her faith.

Fany took ill in December 2022. She fought her disease with everything she had and remained faithful to her God.  Regrettably she took her last breath on Friday  July 31, 2026. 

She left behind her only child and son-in-law Darmelyne and Yves Celestin. Her granddaughters, Dahina and Daureen. Her siblings, Jean-Claude, Marie-Ange, Carlos, Roland, Tita, D’io and Jn Claude. She left behind many nieces and nephews. They have all had the pleasure to feel her love and compassion, and it will never be forgotten.
