Gesnel Jean-Philippe was born March 25th,1957 in Desdunes, Haiti to the parents of Philona Provilon and Adony Jean-Philippe. Gesnel or as some people know him as “Flerigene” or “Philippe” was the first born of all his siblings and with that came a lot of responsibility. He completed his studies to the High School level in Haiti and moved to the United States at the age of 22. Once settled Gesnel was able to make a living for himself and later meet his goal of bringing the rest of his siblings and some other family members to the United States from Haiti too.
Starting off working in a warehouse moving and loading merchandise Gesnel realized that he wanted to do more. He became a taxi driver then furthered his career receiving his CDL and became a truck driver, to make a living for his family. Working for over 25 years as a truck driver, working over 60 hours a week and sometimes missing holidays and special events Gesnel never complained and always gave 100 percent to anything he did. In his adult years Gesnel made sure to teach his children that they can accomplish whatever they want as long as they put their mind to it. He would always tell stories of how hard and scary it was to leave all of his family behind and come to America, not knowing any English, but would always say as long as you have faith anything is possible. While he was a man of very few words, he would always show his love by acts of service. He loved to spend time with his family and would stop whatever he was doing to help whomever needed it. He loved to see others happy, especially his family and close friends.
On March 11th, 2024 Gesnel was called home to be with the Lord. Sharing the memories of his wonderful life are:
His Daughter: Sarah Jean-Philippe
