Fritz Prophète went home to the Lord on August 31, 2024, at the age of 85 years old in Rahway, New Jersey.
Fritz was born in L’Acul-du-Nord, Haiti on May 2, 1939, to the late Edithe Prophète and Dupuy Pierre. Fritz was the second-born of his mother’s nine sons. Fritz completed his primary education in L’Acul-du-Nord and served at the Catholic Church of the Nativity, as an altar boy for several years. Later he moved to Cap-Haitien, where he worked as a tailor and barber. In pursuit of his secondary education, he moved to Port-au-Prince, where he began working for the Catholic mission: La Sainte Famille. Fritz emphasized the importance of education, a value that he instilled in his children and his grandchildren. While working at La Sainte Famille, he met his spouse, the late Marie Wilda, whom he married in 1972, they went on to have three daughters, Régine, Sophia, and, Marie Yvanne. In October of 1998, Fritz immigrated to the United States from Haiti, Fritz then worked at Silver Line until his early retirement.
Fritz was not just a man of action but also a man of great wisdom and deep faith. His belief in God was unwavering, and it guided him through the challenges and triumphs of his life. He faced adversity with strength and resilience, always trusting in the greater plan that God had for him.
His faith was a beacon of hope for his family and those around him, and he instilled these same values in his children and grandchildren. Fritz firmly believed in the Lord’s forgiveness, and that is why, until his last breath, he believed he had fought the good fight.
