Henry Verly Stephenson, Jr. was born on June 10, 1971 to Phyllis Delores Alvarez and Henry Stephenson, Sr. in Brooklyn, NY. In 1989, he graduated from Wingate High School in Brooklyn, NY. He then started taking courses at City University of New York, Borough of Manhattan Community College but soon willingly decided to forgo his education to begin his illustrious career with the NY Transit Authority as a Specialist Operator, where he worked for 32 years.
On March 24, 2026, Henry succumbed to a hard fought battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Cancer may have won the battle but the ultimate victory belongs to God.
Henry was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Delores Alvarez, aunts Francis Quinones, Alice Vinson and Earnestine Johnson and uncles Robert L. Mathis, George L.Mathis, Freddie Mathis,and Donald R. Mathis.
Henry is survived by his wife Cassandra, son Mateo Stephenson, daughter Madyson Edwards, brother Troy Stephenson (Troy Stephenson, Jr., Brandon Stephenson, Kyle Stephenson, and Lauren Stephenson) aunts Mrs. Verner Banks, Mrs. Ethel Mathis, and Mrs. Phyllis Mathis, parents-in-love: Joseph Castel & Marie Rose Aris, brother & sisters-in-love, Marcus & Brijette Aris (Mallory Aris & Roman Aris), Miriam Sampson (Nyla Sampson & Macen Sampson), and an abundance of loving cousins.
