Irama Lormilus was a remarkable woman, who touched our lives profoundly born on Wednesday, February 22, 1968, in Desdunes, Haiti. Irama was the cherished daughter of the late, Vetira Philippe Saint Louis and Nicolas Saint Louis. Her journey from a vibrant childhood in Haiti to a fulfilling life in the United States is a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Irama completed her primary education at Centre D’Études Classiques in Desdunes and her secondary education at Collège Isidor Jean Louis in Port-au-Prince. In 1986, she and her family joined her father in the United States, seeking new opportunities and a better life. Irama continued her education at Essex County College and Wilfred Beauty Academy, where she became a talented hairstylist, bringing joy and confidence to many through her skills.
But Irama’s journey didn’t stop there. With a heart full of compassion and a desire to help others, she obtained her Medical Care Technician License. She dedicated herself to serving at Sunrise Senior Living of Morris Plains for 20 years. Irama’s kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication impacted everyone she worked with, and she was truly loved by colleagues and residents alike.
On December 22, 1998, Irama married the love of her life, Calisthene Lormilus. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with a son, Calixon Lormilus, in October 2000, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to their lives. Irama was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and faith.
In December 2023, Irama faced one of the greatest challenges of her life, when she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Her battle was short but fierce, and she passed away just seven months later, on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Throughout her illness, Irama displayed incredible strength, grace, and unwavering faith that inspired everyone around her. Her courage in the face of adversity will forever be a testament to her indomitable spirit.
Irama leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her devoted husband, Calisthene Lormilus; her beloved son, Calixon Lormilus; her sisters, Virginie Georges, Yvanette Saint Louis Jacques, Fedeline Destine, and Marielle Ojentis; her brother, Bayard Saint Louis; her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; her aunts, uncles, and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
Irama, your memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Your love, kindness, and faith have left an indelible mark on our lives.
