Irma Gai Lamothe was born March 16th, 1942 in Port-Au-Prince Haiti to the parentage of Victor Lamothe and Lucia Hillaire. She attended school in Haiti at “L’Ecole Primaire Pelissier” and did
her high school years at “L’Ecole Secondaire Simon Bolivar” Both schools are known for teaching some of the great intellectual generation of Haiti. After graduating, she pursued her
studies at “L’Ecole de Commerce Julian Crane”.
Irma was a spectacular student from a very young age. Along with her 3 brothers: Jacques Lamothe (In Heaven), Philippe, and Ducoste Lamothe who built a primary school. Originally
named: “Saint Martin De Porres” later on by the Ministery of Education in Haiti, it ended up being called: “L’Ecole Mixte Jean Jacques Romain ci-devant St Martin De Porres”
Irma was always in service of others, a very religious, dedicated & wonderful person. Later being married and gave birth to 3 children. Our mother was always there for everyone in the
family, adoptive family, friends, neighbors, church members, and more, etc. She came to the USA and was always there for her husband/ Our Late Father “Clerier L. Gai” (In Heaven) until his passing. She was and still is the main person (backbone) of the family Gai Lamothe.
Sadly, on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at 7 am after coughing and in the presence of an EMT and a few loved ones while on her way to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth NJ. Our beloved “Irma" was 82 years old when she passed away and went to join the Angels in Heaven. Unfortunately, she left us for a better place to be alongside her husband our dad “Clerier”.
Irma leaves a lot to cherish, including her memories and her children: Bob (Ti pouche), France (Chacha), and Peter (Pepe). Her Brothers and Sisters: Phillipe Lamothe, Jacques Lamothe (In Heaven) Ducoste Lamothe, Jeanette Lamothe/Labissiere, Hortancia Lamothe/Jeannot. Her Stepchildren: Leger, Cesaire, and his wife Kernande, Booz, and family.
Grand-children: Clerma, Caleb, Clay-Lynn, Clea & Aiden.
Nephews, Nieces, and Childs: Yanick, Lucienne, Mario Lamothe, Nadje Berhanu, Jesse Lamothe, Freud L., Nancy Brown, Nikki, Junior Ducoste Lamothe & Sherley Lamothe.
Her adoptive children/Daughters/Sons: Claudette Guillaume (Auntie) and all of her close friends in the states and out-of-states: Pierrot, Jonas, Fontus, Soeur Marie, Eva, and everyone else
unfortunately, we had missed, forgot, or omitted. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done/helped us with, contributed to, and supported us in these very difficult times.
Sincerely,
Bob, France & Peter
