Jean Abelard Obituary

Jean Fresnel Abelard was born on December 24, 1950 in the city of Croix des Bouquets, Haiti. He attended Charlotte Marcadieu School from the Kindergarten to the Middle School. To further pursue his educational goal, he traveled to Port-au Prince, the Haitian city capital and enrolled In Lycée Petion. From there, he decided to register at the Laroche institute where he studied accounting. But he had a much higher ambition. He decided to become a pastor and enrolled in the seminary at Cite Cadet.  After his graduation, he received a call and was employed as a pastor for the Lilavois United Pentecostal church. He set up a literacy program to benefit the adults of his community teaching them how to read and write. In addition to head the literacy program, he also found time to work as a teacher at both the

primary and secondary level in one of the educational institutions in Cité Cadet. In 1976, He left Haiti and traveled to France and lived in the city of lights, Paris. From France he emigrated to the United States of America the following year. He worked first as a cab driver and eventually switched to the Limousine Company known as XYZ. In 1985 the Lord directed his path to the Salem and soon he became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was subsequently baptized in 1987. He held the position of Church Deacon and was later ordained into this ministry. He also worked as a Sabbath School teacher and performed this duty with heart and passion. On January 24 1988 he met the lovely Guerda  Dumesle, whom he married just a few months later in May 1988. He just couldn’t wait.
