Jean Baptiste Jacques was born in Haiti on December 3, 1952. He was the son of a farmer and from there he grew a passion for tending to the land. He lost his parents at a young age and from there took responsibility to provide for himself and his family. He inherited his father’s farmland and sold it as his ticket to freedom, from there he made his home in the United States but, most importantly in New Jersey.
He met his wife at a young age; he would walk past her house every day to try to talk to her. They were married in 1977 and had their first child together when he was only 24, while already having a child from a previous relationship. He always took responsibility and care of his family. In 1979, he made his way to America and worked hard until he could buy a house and send for his wife and kids in 1994 where they stayed until his last days.
From working in different industries (nursing homes, supermarkets, factory) and multiple jobs at a time to provide for his family so they would never need for anything. He finally retired in 2018 and spent his time trying to help others in any way he could.
Jean was a man of God and always went to church every Sunday as long as he was here. He would spend his Saturday afternoons cleaning the church because he felt as though that was his gift and his way to giving back to the Lord.
He made a way for himself here. If anyone knew Jean, they knew how much of a hard worker he was. But most importantly they knew how much pride he had.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Anise Jacques; 5 children, John Jacques, Julson Jacques, Sandia Jacques Mitchell, Michael Jacques, Jean Jr Jacques; Grand Children Jeana Jacques, Jude Jacques, Henya Jacques, Yanni Jacques, Trinity Mitchell, Genesis Mitchell
