Jeanne Jourdain, age 84, a widower, passed away on 6/27/2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Port-au -Prince, Haiti to Azar Jourdain and Ismanie Blanchard. She was the 4th child of 9 children.
In her passing she’s gone home to reunite with Ernest, Immacula, Meno, Fritz, Wilfred and her late Grandson Edson.
Jeanne came to the United States in 1980 and work as a seamstress in Queens, NY. She designed and sew for local hospitals. She was a trailblazer; a designer and a fashionista who sew her own clothes.
In addition, she was a great cook; she loves to have a big gathering to entertain her large family and people will always say, “You’ll never leave her house hungry. Her home was the Haitian “Soulfood”in our hearts. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Jeanne was a pillar in her community. She babysat everyone’s children in the neighborhood , she was given a nickname “Jeanot”. She loved everyone and to know her was to know her heart. She always made sure that you were okay and most of all, loved her family. She was never scared to speak her mind, but she was quick to rub your back and you knew everything was going to be alright.
Jeanne was a devout Catholic who attended church every Sunday. Her Faith and spirituality was at the epicenter of everything that she did. She loved her friends at church who she cherished their friendships for over 25 years.
Jeanne is survived by her siblings Pierre,Franck and Eugenie; Her 3 children:
Marie-Nancy, Carmen and Yves. She has 5 grandchildren : Gaddie,
Tamara, Gessica, Akim, and Daphne. Also, 9 great grandchildren: 30 great nieces and nephews. In addition to her in -laws, Jacqueline ,
Fouchard and Ghislaine.
