Jocelyn Donat was born on December 28, 1951, in Croix Des Mission Haiti to Exino and Acelie Donat. He was raised, in Port-Au-Prince. Jocelyn immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1971. One year later, he went back to Haiti, where he married the love of his life, Evelyne “Matou” Cazeau, and returned to the U.S. together. God blessed their union with six beautiful children.
Jocelyn worked as a production worker for over thirty years. Throughout his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great friend to many. His greatest joy, however, was his family for whom he tirelessly and effortlessly provided with anything they needed. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, who he cared for while she battled cancer, until the very end. He continued to mourn her loss and carried her memory with him. Just last year, Jocelyn gave his life to the Lord and was baptized. It was a monumental moment for him to publicly symbolize his faith and obedience in Christ.
Jocelyn is survived by his six children: Joanne, Iveley, Levard, Melissa, Samantha, and Ashley; six grandchildren Nazir, Zoe, Olivia, Zuri, Cree, and Solange; two sons-in-law: Abdias and James; five siblings: Joseph Arnel, Milot, Edwin, Marie Marthe, Ketlie; and a host of sorrowful other relatives and friends.
His presence on this earth will truly be missed by us all but, we know for a fact that his soul is with the Lord and in that we find comfort, for the body is not eternal but is merely a vessel for the soul.
