Joseph Souvenir Vital Archelus was born on October 30, 1946, in Desdunes, Haiti. He attended grammar school while in Desdunes and later moved to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to expand his education in mechanical engineering. Once he graduated, he moved back to Desdunes to open his own mechanic business. In Desdunes, he also started his own farming business. Souvenir wanted a better life for himself and moved to America to expand his entrepreneurship. He went on to pursue multiple ventures which included owning a record shop, barbershop, taxi company, a restaurant, and a part ownership in a jewelry business.
Souvenir was a man who had many friends. He would lend a helping hand even if he barely had something to give. He assisted people who migrated from Haiti and helped them find a fresh start in this new country. He was truly loved by many because of his big heart. He loved being around his family and friends. Souvenir will always be known and remembered for his restaurant on 18th Ave in Irvington. His legacy will always live on.
Souvenir was called home at the age of 77 and is survived by the love of his life, Occiana Milfort. He is survived by his 4 siblings: Dicile Vital Milford, Chimene Vital Cenatus, Willman Vital, and Rogers Audiger. He is also survived by his beloved 7 children: Roben Vital, Chilet Vital, Natasha Gurlage Vital, Soulouque Vital Archelus, Jhocadson Vital Archelus, Kamma Vital Archelus, Wendy Vital Archelus. He also has 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
