Early Life & Journey
Joseph Charles, fondly known as “Arnold” by family and friends, was born on March 23, 1948, in Hatte-Cheveau, Haiti, to the late Camel Charles AKA “Boss Camel” and Gina Regice. He attended high school in Haiti and later pursued training in mechanics, developing the skills and determination that would shape his life’s path.
In 1979, Joseph immigrated to the United States, settling in New Jersey. He worked in a Leather manufacturing company and later at Red Lobster during the late 1980s. From 1988 to 1991, he drove a taxi, and in 1991, he became an owner-operator with his own taxi and medallions—a role he continued faithfully until January 2024. His dedication, resilience, and strong work ethic made him a respected figure in his community and among those who worked alongside him.
In his adult years, Joseph was blessed with a large and loving family, becoming the proud father of nine children. He remained deeply devoted to his loved ones, supporting them with unwavering care, wisdom, and guidance. His values of hard work, humility, and responsibility became the foundation of the legacy he leaves behind.
