Dear friends and family,
Today we gather to honor the memory of an extraordinary man “our beloved Father”. As we come together to say goodbye to the one who has been a great pillar in our lives. We hold on to our precious memories and the love that binds us forever.
Our father was more than a parent to us. He was our rock, our guide and our inspiration.
Born in Cana, municipal section of Ouanaminthe, March 15, 1934. Joseph Ifréis Joseph was the son of Médacier Joseph (deceased) and Mercilia Désir (deceased). He was the first of three children: Kercie Joseph (deceased) and Lidia Joseph (deceased).
On February 18, 2024, our dear father, a daily hero, took his last breath at Saint Barnabas Hospital.
In 1957, he joined the army in Ouanaminthe. In 1958, he received a letter of transfer to Port-Au-Prince in the 21st company of the Casernes Dessalines battalion. From there, he rose through the ranks from simple soldier to officer. He served in the military for 33 years.
Joseph was an exemplary and disciplined man. His superiors gave him financial responsibilities for his battalion. He loved everyone, officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers.
After completing his first military training, he married the woman of his dreams: Sancionne Prud’Homme (Sans) whom he loved with immeasurable love. An exceptional union that only death could separate. From their union were born seven beautiful children: Jacquelin Joseph, Joèl Joseph (deceased), Marie Nadeige Apollon, Myriam Bien-Aimé, Johnny Joseph, Ernst Joseph, Ronald Joseph.
Dad, you were a model of strength, courage and determination. Through life's ups and downs, you were always there for us, with a heart of love and a soul full of wisdom. Your unwavering moral values, your dedication to your family has left an indelible mark etched into our hearts.
He was commonly nicknamed “Lieutenant Zo or at least Zoizo”. The man of all professions: sensitive, loving, generous and strong at the same time. He left behind a legacy that will transcend generations to come. Additionally, Joseph was part of his Mount of Olives Church of God family. He was an active member of a group of men called “Soldiers of Christ”. He believed in God and a better future for his family.
We will miss his advice, commitment, conviction and love for those close to us. He was survived by his wife Sancionne and his children: Jacquelin Joseph, Joèl Joseph (deceased) and his wife Aviole Atis Joseph, Marie Nadeige Apollon and her husband Pierre Apollon, Myriam Bien-Aimé and her husband Wilber Bien-Aimé, Johnny Joseph and his wife Marie Marthe Joseph, Ernst Joseph and his wife Iseland Joseph, Ronald Joseph and his wife Missela Joseph. Her adopted daughter: Viergina Latry and her husband. To his Grandchildren: Peterson Apollon, Nagela Apollon, Jethro Joseph, Joshua Joseph, Jeremiah Joseph (deceased) Luther Joseph, Aranta Joseph, Romario Joseph, Roberto Joseph, Jessica Joseph, Jennifer Joseph, Samiria Bien-Aimé, David Bien-Aimé, Daniel Bien-Aimé, Nehemie Latry, Jacquiyanah Vincent, Grace Joseph, Faith Joseph, Clarson Chery and Nichelle Joseph. To his nephews and nieces: Luke Joseph, Joceline Joseph, Jocelyn Day, Guerdy and the Belaston family, Dana Joseph, Ruben Charles, Rico August and family, Joseph Josephus and family. To his cousins: Edule Leneus and family, Charles Joseph, Antoine Mores and family. Suzette Mondesir, to a host of cousins/nieces and nephews, as well as extended family.
Dad, we promise to continue to honor your memory by living according to the values you taught us. We will carry your legacy with pride, and we will ensure that your life lessons continue to illuminate our paths.
We lost our dad, and the pain cannot be measured. In this difficult stage, we would like to simply say thank you to everyone present during this burial ceremony. You have expressed all your affection to our father, and we thank you affectionately and sincerely.
