Joseph Jean Lorquet

Joseph Jean Lorquet was born on August 18, 1944, in Leogane, Haїti, to the parents of the late Stern Lorquet and Louisita Armand Lorquet. He was the tenth of fourteen children. Jean attended primary and secondary school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti then moved to the USA in 1972 where he met and married his beloved wife Yves-Marie Sterling on September 28, 1974, in Brooklyn, NY. They had two sons Yves Jude and Moїse Lorquet

Jean was employed by Simmons Mattress in Elizabeth, NJ. He later became self-employed by starting his taxi business. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He enjoyed reading the Bible, playing cards, dominoes, watching soccer and basketball games. He found happiness by engaging in his daily activities of working out at the gym, most of all, Jean enjoyed helping people, his kindness and generosity would be remembered by many who had the pleasure of meeting him.

On Saturday, March 22, 2025. After a prolong illness, Jean entered peacefully into eternal rest at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, New Jersey. He will be missed by those who had the honor of knowing him. His wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, etc.                                                                                                 

Jean is survived by:

His wife of 50 years, Yves Marie Lorquet.                                                                                                      

His children and their spouses: Yves Jude Lorquet and former wife Danielle Lorquet, Moїse Lorquet and wife Nancy Hernandez Lorquet.                                                                                              

His Grandchildren: Masaiah Lorquet, Imany Lorquet, Daniel Lorquet, Yanick Lorquet, Shayne Lorquet.                           

His siblings and their spouses: Yolene Lorquet St. Louis and Pastor Edens St. Louis, Charles Lorquet and his wife Celie Lorquet, Fred Lorquet and his wife Dgyna Blanc Lorquet, Viviane Lorquet, Islande Desruisseaux, Lionel Desruisseaux and Roland Desruisseaux.

His sisters-in-law: Gladys Sterling Dorisca, Edna Genois, Nicole Sterling, Carmel Sterling Francois, Ednide Sterling Civil, Antonine Sterling Joseph, Rolande Sterling.                                         

His brothers-in-law: Herman Sterling, Raloul Sterling.

His nieces and nephews: Margareth Zarra-Pierre Paul, Nadine, Carline, Regine,  Guerda, Shirley, Nadia, Patricia, Jennifer, Wendy, Rachelle, Andie, Cynthia, Reynald, Dickens, Harold, Johnny, Andre, Phillip Jr., Antoine, Woodly, Edson, Reynold, Natha, Semie and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.
