Joseph Mathieu Emilus was born on January 3, 1942, in Marchand Dessalines, Haiti to the late Emildor and Souverine Emilus. He was one of six children. Joseph attended school in Marchand Dessalines. Joseph Emilus married Bernadette Charles in 1972 and was blessed with their first child. That same year he immigrated to the United States. He resided in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Brooklyn College. In 1976, he moved to New Jersey and started working at JB Papers. In 1977, his wife joined him in the United States and three more children were born from this union. His wife Bernadette started studying the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and he became interested and started studying also. In Nov 1997, he was baptized. Joseph enjoyed attending meetings, reading the bible and preaching. He retired from JB Paper in 2010. This allowed him to spend even more time in the ministry. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always smiling, laughing, and encouraging to everybody. He always had a positive attitude. Joseph Emilus was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Joseph leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 50 years, Bernadette Emilus, his children Mathson Emilus (preceded in death), Beatrice Emilus, Rocky Emilus and Dudley Emilus. Eight grandchildren Shawn, Keith, Jayleen, Liani, Lenisse, LeAndrew, Jahmir, and Levi. Daughter in law Sergica Emilus. Son in law Francis Mwangi. Brothers Wilfrid Emilus and St. Victor Emilus. Aunt Clairmene
Joseph also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
