Joseph Yves Polynice Obituary

On Saturday, May 28, 2022 Joseph Yves Polynice was called home by his Heavenly Father at the age of 67.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  He will be missed immensely.

Yves was born on June 21, 1954 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Emmanuel and Marie Leonie (Cham) Polynice.  Yves was raised in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti with his siblings and cousins. He attended Charlotine Marcadieu introductory, Jean Jacques Acaau primary school and Abraham Lincoln secondary school.  His love for cars led him to study to be an auto mechanic.  Yves enjoyed living out his dream while in Haiti. He migrated to the US in January 1982 touching down at 114 Arlington.  Yves traveled back to Haiti to marry his beloved wife Marie Elisette in December 1982. Elisette joined Yves in the US in 1984. Together they raised their daughters, Cynthia Lynn, Iva Elizabeth, Ashley Dorothy and Sarah Laurie until Love Nerline joined them in February 2000.  Yves worked hard to provide for his family even when that meant working multiple jobs. Yves worked at Etienne Aigner for 25 years as a forklift operator then went to work for Pathmark Inc.  Yves dedicated his life to life to the Lord in 2012 and was officially baptized in 2014.  Dedication, hard work and determination are merely a few words to describe his work ethic.  Yves was known for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his kind spirit and traditional values.  In his prime he enjoyed taking his daughters with him to purchase pre-loved cars even when they didn't see he beauty in them.  Yves loved music. You can find him at home singing or traveling with his wife and others to enjoy a night of live music from 1 of their favorite Haitian bands. Yves loved collecting watches, wallets, belts and hats. He seldom left a store without purchasing 1 of those items.  His family will forever love his cherished collection.

Yves was preceded in death by his father Emmanuel, his mother Leonie, his brother-in-law Victor Tunis and his nephew/godson John Tunis.  He is survived by his wife Marie Elisette Polynice, his 5 daughters Love Nerline Auguste, Cynthia Lynn Polynice, Iva Elizabeth Briggs, Ashley Dorothy Polynice and Sarah Laurie Polynice, his son in laws Johnny Auguste, Dwight Todd Briggs, his grandchildren Ethan Andrew Cenesca, Emmanuel Colas, Angela Beatrice Censeca, Isabelle Jalena Briggs, Todd Jacob “TJ” Briggs, Ilani Jolie “Lala” Briggs, Levi Joseph Hubert & Abigail Auguste, his siblings Eustache Polynice and companion Rosette Edouard, Marie Rose Tunis, Bazelais Polynice, Micheline Noel and husband Augistine, Shilet Polynice and wife Gertude, Marie Desermite Polynice, in laws Ketly and husband Josephy Raymond, Lina and husband Eric St. Fleur, Marloune and husband Rony Osias, Marise and husband Freo Olivier, Michelle and husband Edens Dennis, Florence Cantave and Nagela Camille nieces and nephews Mr and Mrs Jonas Blanc, Mr and Mrs Emmanuel Tunis, Mr  and Mrs Jean Gladson Tunis, Nathaniel Tunis, Michelin Noel, Mr & Mrs Amir Jones, Mr and Mrs Widney Polynice, Mr and Mrs Marc Kevin Polynice, Thamar Polynice, Richner Leon, Danika Leon and Divinah Polynice, a host cousins including Lelise Cham, Ernst Cham, Naulate Cham, Elina Brutus, Levelt Cham, Guynemer Cham, Audeline Cham, Gatson Cham, Bidner Cham, Carmelle Cham, Wilfred Cham, Myolette Cham, Fegins Cham, Dereste Cham, Senat Cham, Mirtha Cham, Edith Noel, Samuel Noel, Sergo Noel, great nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
