Kerlan Ceus, 54, was called home to glory on September 02, 2023, at St. Barnabas Hospital.
Kerlan was born on November 16, 1968 to Alomise Jean-Baptiste and Murat Saint-Phard in Desdunes, Haiti. At the age of 14, she left Haiti and came to America to start life anew. At 17, she participated in a wedding and walked with Salnave Ceus, and they would both eventually go on to marry on August 19, 1989. The following year, Kerlan embraced motherhood by having what was going to be her 1st of many children.
She always had a creative eye for design and shared that gift with everyone she came across. She found joy in family-oriented events like birthdays, baby showers, weddings, and the like. It was that love and enthusiasm that led her to start an event-planning business where she went on to decorate various events over the years. She visited Haiti countless times, always giving back and generously helping those around her.
Kerlan’s earthly journey may have come to an end, but her love continues on in the hearts who remain. She is survived by her husband Salnave, her 5 children (Kerstine, Kervin, Samuel, Salvens, & Sanell), her two grandchildren (Malachi & Jeremiah), her brothers (Ronald & Eden), and her parents. She is preceded in death by her brother, Josnal.
She was deeply loved and has touched so many lives, both here and back in her homeland. Her legacy is marked by compassion and resilience. Although Kerlan was gone too soon, her loving and caring spirit will be remembered by those she left behind.
We love you.
