Laurette Erminal Obituary

Sr. Laurette Erminal, 73-years-old, died on Thursday, June 21st, 2018, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. After her valiant fight with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in 2016, Sr. Laurette’s battle resumed in January 2018 with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma Cancer which is the terminal stage. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through 6 more months of grueling Chemotherapy. Yet even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she reached out to church almost every Sunday; participating as usher at a service on Sunday April 15, 2018, and even just comforting others brothers and sisters sitting nearby at the service. She took great pride in serving the Lord.

Sr. Laurette Erminal, also known as Lolo was born in Beaumont, Department of Grand-Anse, Haïti on June 15th 1945 to the parentage of Mr. Cetius Erminal and Rosana Delsor whom both deceased. She was the sixth child of a family of eight. At an early age, she has left her township to the capital of Port-au-Prince where she has met with Mr. Gerard and from this relationship she had her only child Gardy Erminal. She worked as a small business entrepreneur to raise her son until she immigrated to the United in 2003 as a caregiver to assist her son and his family.

Lolo went home to God after a long fight her sickness. She was blessed with 73 years of life. She spent her final days at home surrounded by her family and friends and passed away peacefully after celebrating her 73rd birthday on Sunday June 17th. It was an amazing day!

She was a great mother, a great grandmother, a great servant, and just a wonderful person. Her grandchildren can attest to the fact that she has “the patience of a saint” and never lost her temper with them or even raised her voice. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, she was proud of them. She loved cooking, gardening, taking care of her family and a good laugh with friends mostly her Newborn Wesleyan Church family.

She is survived by her only one son Gardy Erminal and his wife Marie-Maude Erminal, her grandchildren: Marc, Britney, Harlan, and McNally Erminal, her nephews and nieces.

Lolo’s life would seem too short to many but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence far exceeds the quantity of time she spent with us. Her gentle smile, her loving heart, and her great sense of humor brought so much joy to her family, her friends, and Newborn Wesleyan church members. She had so much courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4 Vs. 7
