Luce Ceide Obituary

Luce Ceide was born on November 10, 1942, in Cherette, near St Louis du Sud, Haiti. Her parents were Jerome Ceide and Elisunore Augustin. She lived in the countryside with them in her early childhood. She moved to Port-au-Prince to live with the Cave family and grew up with Michèle, Frantzie, Marie-Lou, Yanick, Jessy and Frank-Richard (Boy). Yolande Cave, the matriarch of the family, took Luce in as her own, taking care of her in her younger years. Luce was a nurturing and sweet woman, loved by everyone she encountered.

As a young adult, Luce left Haiti, for the United States to follow her best friend and sister Frantzie, to help raise her daughter, Sagine. She discovered her passion for taking care of children, from there and she began taking care of and raising many other children. Because of her attentiveness, she was sought after by many families to take care of their children. She was a great housekeeper and caregiver, which allowed her to support her only son Frantz.

Luce was a very devout Christian. She attended Holy Spirit & Our Lady Help of Christians Church. She was a legionnaire, who loved to travel all across the country and abroad with her church. She was passionate about helping people and was an active member of her church. As such, she was a positive influence in many people's lives, young and old. Her faith and love for people allowed her to naturally share the love of Christ with anyone she met.

Luce had a big heart and was always willing to give her time to help people. She was a mother and sister to so many. Luce was a beacon of light to everyone in her life, she could light up a room with just a smile. Luce was always the sweetest and calmest person in the room, never raising her voice or losing her temper, despite the challenges she encountered in life.

Luce Ceide passed away on August 3rd, 2022, at the at the age of 79.
