Luys Pierre Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Luys Pierre, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Luys was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti on December 18, 1965, to his mother Yollette Garçon Ville and father Leonida Jersy Pierre. He was the oldest of three children and shared a close bond with his brother Levelte and younger sister Laureguis, as well as many siblings from his father’s side. He received his education from Henry Guerrier, College Berd of Port-au-Prince, Collège Adventiste of Cap-Haïtien, and St. Esprit Professional School, where he studied electricity. In 1979, he moved to Port-au-Prince and, years later, in June 2014, he made the move to the United States, where he worked diligently at Newark Airport for nearly a decade. Luys lived a life full of love, humility, and dedication to his family and friends. He was amiable, kind, respectful, soft-spoken, and wise. He never raised his voice, in fact, one had to lean in to hear him speak. He was the kind of man who led not with noise, but with presence, consistency, and quiet strength. He was a man you could trust, a friend you could count on, and a soul you never forget. In 2007, Luys met Ketly, the woman who would become his wife, his best friend, and his greatest companion. Together for 18 years and married for 10, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. Luys was also a proud and devoted father to his beloved son, Brown Lucio Pierre, whom he loved deeply and spoke of with pride. Luys loved watching TV, soccer games, listening to music, and, most of all, relaxing in his bed, his favorite spot after a long day’s work.  On May 9th of this year, Luys was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Despite the pain and challenges that came with his illness, he remained hopeful and courageous, facing each day with grace and quiet strength. By his side through it all was his devoted wife, Ketly, who cared for him tenderly and selflessly. She became his voice, his comfort, and his greatest support,  standing with him day and night, holding onto hope, and praying earnestly for a miracle. Though his brother and sister were in a different state, they were never far, constantly calling, offering love, encouragement, and support, doing everything they could to be present in his final journey. Surrounded by their devotion and the love of those who cherished him most, Luys passed away on July 29th, 2025. He was predeceased by his father, Leonida Jersy Pierre. He is survived by his loving wife, Ketly Pierre Pierre; his son, Brown Lucio Pierre; his mother, Yolette Garçon Ville; his father-in-law, Roland Pierre; five brothers; six sisters; eight brothers- and sisters-in-law; three uncles; 17 nieces and nephews; 25 cousins; and countless friends who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. We had so many dreams, so many plans, but time was not on our side. Still, the impact of Luys’s life,  the love he gave, the peace he carried, and the memories he left behind, will live on forever in each of us.
