Maggy Jean-Charles was born to Marie and Roger Content on August 8, 1958, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was the eldest of four siblings and lovingly served as a second mother to them, caring for and guiding her younger brother and two sisters while her parents worked tirelessly to provide for their family.
At the young age of 11, Maggy met the love of her life, Caleb Jean-Charles, who would later become her husband and lifelong partner. While she dreamed of becoming a registered nurse after coming to America and graduating from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Services, her deep love and commitment to Caleb led her to set those aspirations aside so they could build a life together. With courage, determination, and unwavering devotion, she helped bring her beloved husband to America, where they built a strong, loving, and faith-centered family.
Maggy dedicated more than 40 years of service to the New York City Department of Sanitation. Through hard work, perseverance, and commitment, she built a remarkable career and earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. She retired in May 2026 after faithfully serving her community for over four decades.
Above all, Maggy was a God-fearing woman who placed God at the center of everything she did. She and her husband taught their children the fear and reverence of the Lord, the importance of building a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, and the necessity of relying on His strength, wisdom, and unfailing love. Her unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, generous heart, and loving example touched everyone who knew her.
Maggy leaves behind her cherished husband, Caleb Jean-Charles; her beloved children, Syndie, Daphnee, Makir, and Petruce; her adored grandchildren, Jaila, Ziona, Nakir, Zaire, Amari, and Kayleb. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Darlene, Rigal, and Gladys; and her nieces and nephews, Gaille, Vanessa, Claudell, Cedric, and Anthony; along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.
Maggy's legacy of faith, love, strength, sacrifice, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she now rests peacefully in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
