Margie Murphy Obituary

Margie was born to the late William B Armstead, Sr. and Estella Jennings on March 2, 1938 in Pamplin, Virginia.

 

The family moved to Belmar, New Jersey where she attended elementary school and graduated from a private school for girls in              Bordentown, New Jersey.  On April 26, 1956 she married Albert Lee Murphy, Sr, in Atkins, Georgia.  They relocated to California for better job opportunities, eventually moved back to New Jersey to be closer to family and to raise her children.

 

Margie’s love of life and people inspired her to work as a Nursing Assistant.  She was a licensed beautician and a secretary to the YMCA Director in East Orange .  As a member of the Eastern Star, California Chapter and the New Jersey social club called Sophisticated Ladies she formed many close relationships with others, participated in community charities and planned many fun bus rides.

 

Margie was a loving person who gave and demanded respect.  Margie enjoyed traveling with her family and dancing every chance she got.

 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert L. Murphy and son Lamont Murphy.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, Her two daughters Evora Murphy (Pouyes Pierrevil) and Eniwa Murphy Her granddaughter Lanira Murphy (Elijah Sugay) and Her grandson Ethan Murphy, Her  sister Alice Marshall (Jason) and her brother Robert Thorton (Marva), her two God sons William Armstead and Andre Bryant, Her niece/Goddaughter Renae Marshall.  Her close friend Donna Hutchinson and all of her nieces, nephews and others family and friends that called her Grandma or Ma.
