Marie Carmen Dorce

Marie Carmen Dorcé was born on December 09, 1955, in L’estere, but was raised in the Poussant 2eme Section Commune of Marchand Dessalines, L’Artibonite, Haiti, daughter of Matila Dorcé and Marie Jeanne Joseph. She operated a food merchant business where she sold rice and other produce in her hometown of Poussant.

In 2005, she immigrated to the United States to join her one and only son Yvens Jean-Noel and resided in West Orange, New Jersey. A short while after she moved to Hillside, New Jersey, then to Orange, New Jersey. Finally, to Morris View Health Care, a nursing home in Morris Township, New Jersey in 2021. 

During her time in the United States, Marie Carmen helped raise all of her beloved grandchildren and instilled love and pride for their shared Haitian culture. She cared very much for her grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews. She was a loyal employee at Wendy’s for over ten years. Eventually, she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and had to stop working. Later on in her life she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Due to her battle with Alzheimer's disease, her health began to progressively deteriorate, which prohibited her ability to live on her own. As such, we had to make the difficult decision to place her at the Morris View Health Care nursing home in Morris Township, NJ in 2021.   

Despite being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease Marie Carmen Dorcé was full of life.  She always had a smile on her face and was always happy to see family and friends. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, her nieces, and her nephews. 

Marie Carmen Dorcé is survived by her only child Yvens Jean-Noel, his wife, her beloved three grandchildren three sisters, seven brothers, countless nieces, and nephews.

She will be truly missed!
