With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Marie Paul Luxeus on March 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 15, 1943, in Digneti, Gros-Morne, Haiti, she was the devoted daughter of the late Lucille Recilien and Occil Merat.
Marie Paul was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married the love of her life, Joseph Charles Luxeus, in August 1965, and together they built a life of faith, love, and resilience. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1994, creating a home that became the heart of her family for generations.
Her deep devotion to Jesus Christ defined her life. She traveled the world on pilgrimages, prayed her rosary nightly, and was an active member of Holy Rosary St. Michael’s Church. She found joy in gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Even after her cancer diagnosis in 2023, she fought with strength and grace. Her legacy of faith, integrity, and love lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
A life so beautifully lived will never be forgotten.
A viewing for Marie Paul Luxeus will be held at Holy Rosary St. Michael’s Church (52 Smith Street Elizabeth, NJ 07201) on March 29, 2025 from 8-9am, followed by the funeral service from 9am - 11am. Entombment will be held at St. Gertrude Cemetery (53 Inman Ave. Colonia, NJ 07067). The repast will be held at The Westwood (438 North Ave. Garwood, NJ 07027) immediately following the entombment.
Please Note: In honor of their beloved mother’s memory, her children are working on a plan to build a park in her hometown in Haiti—a place of beauty and peace, reflecting the love and kindness she shared with all who knew her. For those who wish to contribute to this meaningful tribute, donations are welcomed and deeply appreciated, reach out to the family for donations towards the park.
