Marie Rose Gladys Germain was born on February 19, 1959 in Leogane, Haiti to Arneau Germain and Margella Beauzile. She attended St. Rose de Lima primary school and later College Surin Eveillard, both in Leogane. Marie had a passion for fine cuisine and pursued her studies in culinary arts at Lekol Elie Dubois in Port au Prince, Haiti. She continued her training with world-renowned French chefs at Chez Madame Alsegere Joseph culinary school.
Despite her love for cooking, Marie aspired to become a teacher. She completed her degree in education and began teaching at Lekol National des Filles Leogane. Marie was a talented and passionate teacher who combined her love for cooking with her profession by teaching her students French cuisine, pastry making, and sewing.
In December 1984, Marie moved to the United States and resided in East Orange, NJ. She worked various jobs to support her family in Haiti. In February 1988, Marie gave birth to her first son, Ashley, whom she loved and adored immensely. In November 1992, she welcomed her second son, Dechner, whom she admired wholeheartedly.
In 1990, Marie began working at Merit Maillers, a post mail distribution company. Her firm work ethic and determination led her to become one of the top-ranking employees, earning recognition from executives. In 1999, she completed the Certified Nurse Assistant program and was hired at Windsor Gardens Care Center as a staff CNA. Marie found purpose in caring for her patients and their families. In October 2020, Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She remained positive and determined to fight throughout her journey. Sadly, on July 1, 2024, Marie passed away. She leaves behind two amazing sons, Ashley and Dechner, several siblings, and a host of close relatives and friends who will cherish her wonderful memories. Marie will be remembered as a dedicated teacher, a hard-working employee, and a compassionate caregiver. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared with those around her. May she rest in eternal peace.
