Marie-Yolaine Mathurin was born on April 9,1968 in Fond Des Blancs, Haiti to Antonine and Salnave Lamontagne. At the age of 15, she immigrated to the United States, where she graduated from East Orange High School, and went on to earn a college education.
Yolaine was a devoted woman of faith whose relationship with God guided every aspect of her life. Before becoming sick she was a member of the Christian Church in Israel by faith, located in Newark, New Jersey, where she Faithfully served her church and community. Her compassionate heart led her to a career in healthcare where she found joy in caring for and helping the elderly and disabled. She also had a passion for the arts and media, participating in Haitian films and operating Haitian radio stations.
Family was the center of Yolaine’s life. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Antonine Lamontagne and her siblings, Claudette, Mirlaine, Saidel, Marie Francoise, Chantale, Woodie, Nerlande, Francoise, and Frito Lamontagne.She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews: Kevin, Oceane, Mateo, Deangelo, Sorane, Sarah, Jayden, Nathan, Mason, Skyla, Kelsie, Kylie,and Amari .She also cherished her cousins,aunts,uncles,and friends.She was forever grateful to her Aunt “Taunte Idele”, who helped bring her to America and played an important role in shaping her future and the women she became.
Yolaine will be remembered by her wonderful sense of humor, adventurous spirit, kindness, resilience, and unwavering gratitude. She was intelligent,inspiring, passionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She brought warmth and laughter wherever she went and with everyone she encountered.
Though she will be deeply missed, her faith, compassion,strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May her memory forever be a blessing.
