Marie Aliette Charles, born April 14, 1962, at the General Hospital of Les Cayes, Haiti to the parents of Mr. Vilbrun Charles and Mrs. Emie Duplessy Charles. She is the youngest daughter of five children Jean-Yves, Georgette, Rico and Rose Michel Charles. She began her elementary education at Externat Saint Joseph followed by her secondary school at College Civisme de Cayes and continued at College Classique Feminine in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She graduated to become skilled in Business Management. During her lifetime, Aliette used her skills to continue to help the people and country of Haiti.
Marie Aliette better known under the name of “Yeyette” is distinguished by her character, a little different from her peers, unique and severe in her kindness. From her youth she was afraid of nothing and everyone saw it through her behavior and actions. She was brave, very smart and she had a rare beauty. She was the most beautiful in our family . She chose preferably to serve Jehovah. She was a faithful servant, courageous and humble of heart, she did many good things. She was remarkably courteous, jovial girl appreciated by her brothers, sisters and her peers.
In 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The disease took on a huge scale, and after so many treatments, in 2022 she underwent her first operation. In 2023, she did better, however in 2024 the cancer returned. She was far from suspecting that this devastating illness, the after-effects of which she suffered for more than two years, shared between hospitals and doctors, would overwhelm her on the afternoon of August 27, 2024, at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. The illness got the better of her body and death got the better of her individually but also collectively through her friends and family here and all those who sympathize with her death. Yeyette will always remain present, and her name will always remain among us in a collective way, and she will be truly missed by her friends and family. May her soul rest in peace.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement during this difficult time. Our hearts are heavy, but your sympathies have given us the ability to continue to live her legacy.
