Marie Abelica Thelusma

Marie Abelica Thelusma was born in Marchand Dessalines on January 10, 1946. She was the beloved 12th child of her parents, Liselia Elysee and Joseme Joseph, and was part of a large and loving family of thirteen siblings. Marie attended the local Community school at Des Eaux and grew up surrounded by the beauty of Haiti’s countryside. A determined and entrepreneurial spirit, Marie grew to be a successful businesswoman with a strong passion for agriculture. She enjoyed traveling to the bustling city of Port-au-Prince to sell her merchandise, and her dedication to her work was widely recognized. In 1986, she decided to stop traveling to the capital and continue her business from her hometown. Marie was known for her boundless compassion, generosity, and kindness. She had a caring nature and was always ready to extend help to those in need, embodying the true spirit of neighborly love. She was a dedicated mother to her three children: Carmene, Roselene, and Andremene. Following the birth of her second child, her husband made the difficult decision to leave Haiti and immigrate to the United States. Marie then settled in Gonaives to raise her three daughters with unwavering love and strength. In December 1999, she made the journey to the United States to reunite with her husband, and it was there that she found her faith in Christ. From that moment on, Marie devoted her life to serving God faithfully and became an integral part of her local congregation. Despite facing physical challenges that confined her to a wheelchair, she continued to make significant contributions to her church community. Marie displayed incredible strength and unwavering faith in the face of adversity, never losing her devout trust in God. She persevered through years of hardship, always choosing to turn her suffering into praise for the Lord, believing that He would one day lighten her burdens. After showing remarkable resilience in her battle with illnesses, Marie peacefully passed away on Monday, June 17th at 11:53 AM at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, NJ. She departed from this world in the comforting presence of her three cherished daughters. Marie's loving memory lives on through her daughters Carmen, Roselene, and Andremen, as well as her adoring grandchildren Noryorky, Kelly, Harry, Irwin, Remayah, Anunsky, Renyel, and Reyannah. Her brother Innocent, and her brother and sister-in-law Schadrack and Felicienne, along with numerous nephews and nieces, also deeply mourn her passing. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
