Marie Charite Orelien was a woman of profound love and unwavering strength. She was born on July 12, 1950, in Cazal, Haiti. She was the daughter of Saintaus Beauzier Fleury and Brigite Belneau and shared a deep bond with her large family: Eliophat Fleury, Thaluis Beauzier, Dieufaus Beauzier, Sauveur Fleury, Alegan Fleury, Emmanuel Fleury, Annicie Fleury, Andremene Fleury, Lucette Fleury, and Luc Fleury.
In January 1976, Charite married the love of her life, Joseph Orelien, and together they built a beautiful family, welcoming three children, the twins, Joseph Ricarto Orelien and Joseph Bricarto Orelien, and their daughter, Charnette Frederic. Her life was marked by love, sacrifice, and devotion to her family. Though her husband Joseph migrated to French Guiana and later to Irvington, NJ, in search of a better future, the family was joyfully reunited in 1996. It was in Irvington that Charite’s three children would come to know her not just as their mother, but as a constant source of love, care, and guidance.
Charite had a heart of gold. She was a caretaker in every sense of the word, always ensuring that those around her were fed, both physically and spiritually. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, her prayers a source of strength, and her love a constant reminder of God's grace. A warrior of faith, she prayed tirelessly for everyone, always encouraging compassion, joy, and peace in the lives of those she touched. Her ability to make people feel welcome and loved was nothing short of extraordinary.
She was immensely proud of each of her children. Ricarto, a computer science engineer with a heart for helping others, has gone above and beyond to support those in need, particularly through his work with the Humanitarian Parole application. Bricarto, a devoted family man and financial broker, is a man of faith and integrity. Charnette Frederic, Ph.D., not only a Quality Control Senior Supervisor but also a dedicated councilwoman serving the Township of Irvington since 2012, carries her mother’s legacy of service and compassion.
Charite instilled in her children the importance of independence, as well as the necessity of helping the less fortunate with respect and dignity. Her wisdom and love continue to live on through them and their work.
Charite is survived by her beloved husband Joseph, her sisters Annicie Fleury, Lucette Fleury, and Andremene Fleury, and her brother Luc Fleury. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her two sons Ricarto Orelien, Bricarto Orelien and her daughter Charnette Frederic; grandchildren Brianna Orelien, Nathan Orelien, Keira Orelien, Bella Orelien, and Ben Frederic; her daughters-in-law Sadio Orelien and Farah Orelien; her son-in-law Joseph Betissan Frederic and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory forward.
Charite was more than just a mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She was a beacon of light in her community. Her kindness, faith, and generosity of spirit touched countless lives, and her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the fullness of her life, a life lived with grace, love, and a heart that never stopped giving. Rest in peace, Charite! Your love and legacy will remain with us forever.
