Marie Diedonne Joseph

Marie Dieudonne Joseph, a cherished matriarch, peacefully passed away on her 99th birthday, December 15, 2024. Born in Saint Marc, Haiti, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. A devoted wife, Marie shared 39 years of love and partnership with her beloved husband, Luc Joseph.

In 1998, Marie immigrated to the United States, where she established a home for her family.  She was a loving mother to three children, and an adoring grandmother.  A woman of simple pleasures, she loved to dance & her spirit came alive to the rhythm of music. One of Marie's favorite pastimes was preparing meals like okra and spinach—dishes she delighted in sharing with everyone. She found immense joy in feeding her family and others, and her generosity extended far beyond the kitchen. Marie had a huge heart, was very giving to her community and was always there to give a helping hand to those in need. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found solace and community in her church.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Luc Joseph (1987), her sister Sylla Borgella-Constant and her parents, Alcide Borgella and Ismaelit Jean. She is survived by her children: Reynold Joseph (and his wife, Sandra), Marie Denise Joseph and Marie Andrée Joseph; her grandchildren: David Ade (and his wife, Jessica), Magda Ade, Jeff Alcindor, Ashley Joseph, and Alex Ade; and her nieces and nephews: Carmelo Constant, Marie Michelle Constant, Marie Esther Constant, and Jean Elie Constant.

Marie's presence could light up any room, and her infectious smile will be deeply missed. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love, and her zest for life.
