Fred Saint Amand Jr Extends Deepest Condolences To The Jean Charles Family.

Marie Florina Jean-Charles better known as Florina went home to be with the Lord. Took her last breath in the hands of her daughter Esther on July 28, 2018. She was born in Petite Riviere de L’Artibonite, Haiti on November 7, 1942, the second eldest of six children to deceased parents Sindroine and Anestine Raphael. Also deceased her younger brother Edouard Raphael.  She loved her family and was well known sought out stylish seamstress alongside her sisters in Haiti.

Florina accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age of 17 and was baptize with her older sister Maire Odette in 1960. Florina served as a Sunday School teacher, leaded missionary trips to help the spread the word of the Lord, worked with the youth and sang in the church choir at L’église Baptiste Maranatha de Preval under the leadership of Rev Jean Jacques Brutus.

Florina married Gesner Jean-Charles in October, 1971. Shortly after, her husband moved to the United States and two years later in 1973 they were reunited in Brooklyn NY. There their family grew and they had two children, Esther and Noemie.

Florina and her husband achieved the American dream when purchasing their first home in 1980 and moved the family to East Orange, New Jersey. Their home was a “gateway” to many families. They helped many families transition from Haiti to United States that needed a place to stay and always opened their door to anyone having hard times.

While in New Jersey, Florina worked at Annin Flag Company in Verona, NJ for over 20 years as a seamstress. She also loved being active, cooking, sewing beauty “matching” dresses for her girls for school and church, shopping for her family and traveling to many different places such as; Jerusalem, Canada in the summer and anywhere with warm weather.

She was a dedicated member of Mount Olive Church of God in Orange, NJ under the leadership of Pastor Charles Rejouis. She loved to sing and sang in the church choir. She was also an active member of the Dame Missionarie, she served until she became too ill.

Florina was known as a “fighter”, after having a total of 11 strokes effecting her speech, writing and becoming a widow in 2014 she was not discouraged, and preserved. She attended church every week in her best attire with hats to match to praise the Lord, went shopping with her daughters every weekend, visited family, and keep up with her grandson and grand nieces and nephews with a big smile.

On Saturday July 28, 2018 Florina had gone to a better place to be with her Lord, where there will be no more pain, and no more suffering. She will be seriously missed by her family, and friends and all that knew her. Florina will be mostly remembered as a kind hearted God-fearing praying woman, faithful and loving wife, and being the best caring mother, grandmother that anyone could ever asked for.

Florina is survived by her two children, Esther, Noemie, and grandson Kassin. Siblings Marie Odette, Milhomme, Christmene, Betty many cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  She was loved and touched the lives of all who knew her.
