Marie Genevieve Jean-Louis Obituary

 

Marie Genevieve Jean-Louis, daughter of Antenor Joseph and Ganera Riviere, was born on November 1st, 1933, Jeanssac County, Au Cayes, Haiti. She attended the public school Semiramis Telemaque in the care of her older sister Sainte Elise Joseph deceased.

 In the beginning of the 1950’s, Marie resided permanently in Port-au- Prince, main city of Haiti where she was united in holy matrimony to Lemaire Jean-Louis on June 28th, 1958.  Lemaire preceded her in death in February 2018. This union was blessed with five children: Berthony Petit-Frere; Monique Auguste, deceased in November of 2017; Jonas Jean-Louis Ketlie Jean-Louis, and Jacques Jean-Louis. Marie Genevieve was a smart lady who worked diligently with her husband to provide daily bread, education, and instruction for her children, nieces and nephews: She was often call call “Tante Isma” or “Auntie Isma” and is known an icon in the family tree.

In August 1970, Marie Genevieve left Haiti to immigrate in the United States of America.  Marie Genevieve attended Council Evangelical Church of God (Rev. Dr. Karl Joseph), Haitian Church Fellowship (Rev. Paul Ombroise, deceased), Bethel Church of God (Rev. Antoine Julmiste). In 1990, Marie Genevie was among the first believers who organized Church of God Sentina Maranatha. Being fully submitted to God’s call on her life, Marie Genevieve ministered in all church activities such as leading services, missionary works, and along with working as Ministry Lead for the Group Soldats. Deaconess Marie Genevieve Jean-Louis left her legacy as a wonderful teacher, advisor, and known as a woman of prayer in the deaconry of Church of God Sentina Maranatha. The Deaconess found grace in the eyes of God, she kept the faith, and she praised Him in the most difficult times even upon losing her sight. On Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, at Elizabeth Plaza Nursing Home she was called home to be with the Lord for eternity. To God be the glory.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Berthony Petit-Frere, Reverend Jonas and his wife Anita Jean-Louis, Ketlie Jean-Louis, and Jacques and his wife Mirvine Jean-Louis; daughter in-law Reina; son-in-law Fernand Auguste. Her grandchildren Berthony, Antenor, and Justine Petit-Frere; Genevieve, Angelissa, Schneider Auguste and his wife Madeleine who is expecting; Sephora Auguste; Reverend Moses and his wife Debra Jean-Louis; Fabiola, born Jean-Louis and her husband Jeffrey Homere; Lashanda Coq, David Jean-Louis; Bethelly, Nathanael, and Jeremiah Jean-Louis. Deaconess Marie Genevieve also left her great grandchildren Erica, Exavier, and Jada Petit-Frere; Lyana and Selah Jean-Louis and Sage Homere. Tante Iszma was admired by her nephews and nieces Catherine Paulas, born Joseph, Evanor, Evald and his wife Marie Carmel Joseph, Anglade and his wife Nicole Joseph, Leonord and his wife Bernadette Joseph, Engineer Jean Marie and his wife Marie Paul Joseph, Rigal and his wife Mirca Joseph, Irma Joseph, born Jules, Victor and Frahner Joseph; Roland and his wife Roseland Raymond; Finally, Gladys Joseph, Aly Thermogene, Valnord, Frantz, Walnis, and Francois Constant who live in Haiti.
