Marie Iphana Tibere Obituary

Marie Iphana Tibere was born Marie Iphana Joseph on November 23, 1953, to late parents Rosana Fortune and Mikel Joseph in Léogâne, Haiti. As the fourth of six children, she enjoyed a rich childhood living on a farm in the countryside surrounded by her large family who affectionately nicknamed her "Elina."

On January 24, 1981, Elina married her childhood love, Joseph Tibere, after an eight-year courtship. In 1983, they welcomed their eldest daughter, Soukaina, into the world. Three years later, in 1986, Elina emigrated to the United States cultivating a new life in New Jersey where she went on to welcome four more children with her husband: Dave, Patricia, Daniel and Alissa.

A beloved figure in her community, Elina was a beacon of strength and kindness impacting countless lives through her generosity and hospitality. While Elina was a mother of five, unofficially, she was a mother to many. Every Sunday, she opened both her home and her kitchen to children from her church congregation, offering care, nourishment, and a sense of belonging. She was also deeply intentional about supporting family and friends during times of hardship, always providing comforting words, warm meals, and unwavering encouragement.

Elina was a longtime member of Holy Mountain Church and a devoted soprano in the women’s choir. For nearly twenty-five years, she also worked as a Machine Operator for Screen Tech Inc., a company specializing in glass development and packaging.

An enterprising and trusted woman, Elina faithfully managed a community savings club, known as a “Sol,” for more than three decades. Through her leadership and dedication, many members were able to achieve significant milestones, including purchasing homes and cars, funding their education, weddings and other important life events

Elina departed from this life on May 4, 2026, after a courageous 10-month battle with Stage IV Colon Cancer. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 45 years, Joseph Tibere ; their children, Soukaina Jasmin, Dave Tibere, Patricia Tibere Robinson and her husband, Marvin Robinson, Daniel Tibere, and Alissa Tibere Pasco and her husband, Alex Pasco. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Abrielle Jasmin, Lyannah Tibere, Jadelle Jasmin, Mykel Jasmin, Ethan Tibere, Emily Tibere, Jordan Jasmin, Elijah Tibere, Andrielle Jasmin, and Axel Pasco; two siblings, Elia Joseph and Nicaisse Joseph along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Additional surviving family members include sisters-in-law Marie Sulette Joseph and Marie Rose Aris; brother-in-law Joseph Clercius Lamothe, and his wife, Denise Lamothe. Elina was predeceased by her second-born infant daughter, her parents and three siblings: Evern Joseph, Milio Joseph, and Maurice Joseph.

Elina will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She left an indelible impact on her community and her memory will be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
